Hello lovely knitters!

Week 16 has given us two panels that feel quietly powerful, but in very different ways.

Read Banned Books came with one of those brilliant, baffling conversations with my youngest. She simply could not understand why any book would be banned in the first place.

Same babe. Same.

It’s a reminder that curiosity, questioning and access to stories should never be taken for granted. Books open doors, and sometimes the ones that get challenged are exactly the ones that help us see the world a little differently. So this panel is a little nudge to keep reading widely, thinking freely, and maybe picking up something you wouldn’t normally reach for.

The second panel, The Peace Walk, is inspired by the recent Walk for Peace across America. A group of Buddhist monks walked around 2,300 miles over more than 100 days, travelling state to state with a simple aim, to spread peace, compassion and kindness, one step at a time.

What I love most is that it wasn’t loud or forceful. It was steady. Intentional. A moving meditation, really. A reminder that small, consistent acts of kindness and calm can ripple out much further than we think. Which feels very fitting for a cardi built stitch by stitch.

And speaking of stitches…

Burton’s Bollards is back for year two, and I couldn’t be more excited. If you fancy getting involved, this is your moment. We’re calling on knitters and crocheters to help us wrap Burton in colour again, with bollard covers, buddies, and all sorts of woolly wonderfulness. Whether you make one, ten, or just dig out some spare yarn to donate, it all adds to something pretty special. It’s community, creativity, and a bit of joyful chaos rolled into one. Exactly our kind of thing.

So this week feels like a lovely mix. Read bravely. Walk gently. And maybe cast on something that will make someone smile.

Happy stitching, and happy wandering

g.
